Please join the FOG Board at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Field House, University of Alberta Botanic Garden at 1:30p. There will be a short business meeting first. This is the time to join the board if you were wanting to more involved. All types of board members are needed, not just gardeners. If you love the garden and have some free time, please consider joining.
After the meeting, there will be a tour in the garden looking at new gardens and other upcoming plans. Come and see the garden before it is open to the public on May 1. Then join the board for a wine and cheese and coffee/tea back at the Field House. Learn what your membership and donations are doing to help the garden.
Please call Dana at 780-221-6467 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to attend.
Join us for an Evening with the Friends of the Garden. There will be music, food and games. Bring the whole family.
Date Night – A Celebration of Friendship
Date(s) – June 27, 2019
6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Take your friend on a date! Whether it’s your best friend or girlfriend, boyfriend or book club friend, soccer team pal or the dear BFF you care about who deserves a night out – this is the Date Night for them. The fabulous Friends of the Garden will be here, too, and we’re celebrating with a jazz band, a burger BBQ, behind-the-scene tours of the Garden and a ‘friendly’ scavenger hunt.
6-7:30 pm – BBQ at the Pine Pavilion
Enjoy the sounds of live jazz. Savour a delicious choice of deluxe beef or veggie burger with all the trimmings, and a side of coleslaw – $16 for the burger meal.
Pick up a “friendly” scavenger hunt and team up with your buddy to win fun prizes if you solve all the clues.
7:00-7:30 pm – Tree Tour with Bruce Dancik
Because trees are friends to us all! Join dendrologist (that’s a tree expert) and former Garden director Bruce Dancik and get introduced to some of the Garden’s fantastic tree specimens. Tour starts at the Pine Pavilion.
7:30-8:15 – Behind the Scenes with Barry
Barry Greig has been a horticulturist at the UABG for 30 years, and he will lead an entertaining behind-the-scenes tour of some of the Garden’s most loved features. Tour starts at the Leaf Plaza.
Registration begins April 1.
Please help us fundraise for the University of Alberta Botanic Garden by volunteering at our upcoming casino. It is easy, safe and a lot of fun. All training and food will be provided. All shifts and positions are available.
Please call Dana at 780-221-6467 if you would like to volunteer. Our Friends are the best and we couldn’t help the garden without your support!
